An Invitation

Ananda Partners invites you to Moanin' & Movements, a social change salon.  A 90 minute jam session for social change leaders to explore the latest ideas and innovations in catalyzing social progress. This Salon will use Jazz to explore the role of connected identity and collective action in social change. Whether your mission is focused on combatting climate change, promoting social justice, empowering youth, protecting the environment, expanding education, improving health services, or raising social consciousness, this interactive session will develop insights into the art and architecture of scaled engagement.

When: June 5, 2019 from 5pm - 7pm

Where: Central London, exact location TBC

The Session

In dimly lit, smoke-filled rooms, reverberating with the moan of a baritone sax, backed by screeching trumpets and a resonating double bass, jazz became the heartbeat of social progress in the 20th Century. Miles, Ella, Mingus, Billy, Monk, Coltrane are among the pioneers of the musical expression.

Much has changed since their time. Today we are able to connect, learn, and share at a speed and scale never before possible. Our creative potential is greater than it has ever been -- we are expressing ourselves and inspiring each other in ways unimaginable just a generation ago. And yet, the jazz giants still have much to teach us about the fundamentals of participatory social change in the 21st Century: innovation, improvisation, storytelling, activation are at the heart of our work.

Join us for an interactive session where we will unpack the lessons of Jazz for social change in the 21st Century:

  • What is the role of narrative in participatory campaigns and movement-building?

  • How do you foster a connected identity that inspires a wider audience to not just listen, but take action?

  • How do you use technology and social media to enable people to be apart of the change they want to see in the world?

  • What are recent examples from around the world of how participatory campaigns unlocked social innovation and collective action?
